Dr. Malou C. Harrison
Executive Vice President and Provost
Dr. Malou C. Harrison is a transformational leader with a proven ability to steer complex academic organizations, inspiring alignment and enthusiasm across faculty, staff, students and alumni. Her approach is grounded in data-informed strategy and steadfast stewardship of the institutional mission. As a Students First grounded leader, she is particularly adept at adapting the structures and offerings of higher education to meet rapidly evolving economic and societal needs, ensuring both relevance and resilience for the future. Dr. Harrison has served in various capacities at the university and college levels at Miami Dade College and the University of Buffalo, including president of multiple campuses, Dean of Students, and Trio Support Services Program Coordinator. And in all of this, she has prioritized educational excellence, faculty empowerment and student success as cornerstones of her leadership. Throughout her tenure, she has generated a multitude of high impact partnerships that have furthered opportunity and academic quality as well as the amplification of work-based learning internships and apprenticeships not to mention local and federal grants.
As provost and chief academic officer for one of the nation’s largest and highest performing institutions, Dr. Harrison's leadership is marked by a shared vision to advance high fidelity educational and workforce training programs that are relevant for the future of work and the economic growth of the community. She led Miami Dade College to a ‘zero findings’ 10-year reaffirmation by SACSCOC in 2025 and has served on many on-site reaffirmation review committees. She is also a prolific writer on educational issues having authored a chapter titled “Toward Equity: The Immigrant Experience at Miami Dade College” for the book "Working Toward an Equitable and Prosperous Future for All: How Community Colleges and Immigrants Are Changing America.” And she also penned a chapter titled “Community Colleges: Fertile Ground for Black Male Student Success” in the book “Engaging African American Males in Community College. (Contemporary Perspectives on Access, Equity and Achievement).” Her ethics are deeply rooted in collaboration and a commitment to furthering positive social change as evidenced by her engagement as a board member of the Miami Dade College Foundation, The Chapman Partnership, The Children’s Trust, and The United Way.
