Program Overview

Miami Dade College School of Justice, Public Safety and Law Studies has been the premiere provider of security training for 29 years. Our instructors are state certified and have many years of work experience in law enforcement, investigations, private security and emergency services.

Program Details

The Private Security Officer program consists of two courses; a 42 hour Basic Security Guard Training and 28 hour Private Security Guard Training 2. The Basic Phase A course allows the officer to apply for a Florida Class D Security License. Students must complete the Basic Phase B course in order to apply for a G statewide firearms license.

Admission Requirements
  • 18 years of age
  • No felony convictions
  • U.S Citizen or Legal Resident

Career Prospects

The office of Private Sector Security provides State of Florida certified training to individuals interested in obtaining the “D” Security Officer license, the “CC” Private Investigator Intern license, the “G” license for “D”, “CC” and “C” license holders desiring to work armed and mandatory requalification courses.
